Coal Tote Bag
Built to outlast your other bags. Probably all of them.
Most tote bags are made from 8-10 oz cotton canvas — the same weight as a t-shirt. The Coal Tote is built from 18 oz waxed duck canvas. That's the heaviest-duty canvas available — water-resistant, structured, and tough enough to haul whatever your day throws at it without losing its shape.
The handles are 9 oz vegetable-tanned leather from a US tannery. Unlike chrome-tanned leather, veg-tan starts stiff and breaks in to YOUR grip over months of use, developing a rich patina that's uniquely yours. This bag looks better at year three than it does on day one.
When your hands are full, tuck your grip into the hide-away cotton webbing shoulder strap and throw it over your shoulder. Problem solved.
Made by hand in the USA since 2012. The Coal Tote comes from Bradley Mountain — a crew of craftsmen who started making bags in a one-car garage in Ocean Beach and never stopped. Every bag is cut, stitched, and finished by hand in their Tennesse workshop. No factories. No outsourcing.
Heddels — one of the most respected voices in heritage goods — called this bag "the epitome of affordable luxury."
What fits inside: The body measures 15" × 12.5" × 7" — that's a full grocery run, a weekend's worth of farmers market haul, or your laptop plus a change of clothes. The exterior pocket (12.5" × 10") keeps your phone, keys, and wallet within reach.
